The Wife Between Us – Book Review

An instant assumption that appears in mind with the title of this book is “a jealous ex-wife who could not tolerate the new wife of her ex-husband”. But there are clever twists to surprise you as the tagline on the cover says, “She’s not who you think she is……”

You will envy her, appreciate her, dislike her, empathize her but as the synopsis suggests “assume nothing“. This novel is a combination of domestic thriller, suspense, lies, deception and betrayal.

“She is oblivious to what I have done to her.
She is unaware of the damage I have wrought; the ruin I have set in motion.
To this beautiful young woman with the heart-shaped face and lush body-the woman my husband Richard, left me for-I’m as invisible as the pigeon scavenging on the sidewalk next to me.
She has no idea what will happen to her if she continues like this.
None at all.”

I did not find initial few chapters very engaging. It began to pick up the pace slowly and my interest developed. Then comes the page turner. A plot twist that will wrong your predictions and assumptions at the end of first part.

Somewhere in the middle of the story you may get vibes of a bollywood movie, when you feel that some twists are a bit exaggerated.

The later part was predictable except the last 2 chapters. Overall a good read specifically if you enjoy thrillers.
